February 3, 2012 Burlington County League Boys Basketball Palmyra Panthers 54 Bordentown Scotties 47 Trailing 38-35 at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Panthers outscored the Scotties 19-9 down the stretch to win this Burlington County League matchup 54-47. Palmyra's Moral Best led all scorers with 23 points. Teammate Zach Berry added 10 points for the Panthers. Bordentown was led by Antonio Gilmore and Michael Ansong with 19 points apiece. February 2, 2012 Colonial Conference Boys Basketball Woodbury Thundering Herd 75 Collingswood Panthers 43 With the exception of the opening basket by Collingswood, this game was all Woodbury. After jumping out to a ten point lead at the end of the first quarter, the Thundering Herd outscored Collingswood 38-17 over the second and third quarters combined on the way to a 75-43 victory. January 31, 2012 Tri-County Conference Girls Basketball Gloucester City Lions 47 Salem Rams 36 The Lady Lions held a comfortable lead through most of this Tri-County Conference matchup. Things got a little tense in the Gloucester City fieldhouse when Salem mounted a late charge and cut the Gloucester City lead to eight points with 1:49 remaining in the fourth quarter. However, that was as close as the Lady Rams would get as Gloucester City stretched the lead to 11 points in winning 47-36. Madison McClintock led the Lady Lions with 19 points while Johanna James added 9 points. Kenya Woods led Salem with 13 points while teammate Kayla Chapman added 12 points. January 30, 2012 South Jersey Non-League Boys Basketball Audubon Green Wave 71 Maple Shade Wildcats 47 Austin Tassi's three point play with 1:44 remaining in the first half gave Audubon their first lead of the night and the Green Wave never looked back. Audubon grabbed a five point lead at halftime, stretched their lead to 10 points at the end of the third quarter, and went on to win 71-47 over the visiting Wildcats. Adin Borden and Austin Tassi shared high scoring honors with 21 points apiece. DaSean Mundell chipped in with 16 points for Audubon. January 27, 2012 Colonial Valley Conference Girls Basketball Notre Dame Irish 56 Hightstown Rams 32 Notre Dame outscored Hightstown 22-4 in the third quarter to turn a two point halftime lead into a 20-point advantage entering the fourth quarter. Notre Dame went on to win this Colonial Valley Conference contest by the score of 56-32. Notre Dame's Liz Dobrowolski led all scorers with 16 points. Micaela Sipos added 12 points for the Lady Irish. January 26, 2012 Olympic Conference Boys Basketball Paul VI Eagles 51 Cherokee Chiefs 45 Paul VI overcame an early 7-0 deficit to defeat host Cherokee 51-45. It appeared as if the Eagles might run away with this game after scoring the first six points of the second half to grab a nine point lead. However, the Chiefs hung in tough before going down by six points at the final buzzer. Tyrone Ringgold led Paul VI with 10 points. Maple Shade held on to win this Burlington County Leage contest 42-36. Maple Shade's Gabrielle Ashman was the high scorer of the game with 14 points. January 23, 2012 South Jersey Non-League Boys Basketball Delran Bears 44 Moorestown Friends Foxes 30 The Foxes erased an eight point halftime deficit and took a brief one point lead midway through the third quarter. However, Delran bounced back to regain the lead by the end of the third quarter and put this game away by outscoring Moorestown Friends 16-4 in the fourth quarter. Derrick Mitchell led Delran with 14 points while Jordan Kennedy added 13 points, including three 3-point shots. December 3, 2011 NJSIAA South Jersey Group III Football Championship Timber Creek Chargers 33 Hammonton Blue Devils 7 Timber Creek erased an early 7-0 deficit by scoring 33 unanswered points to defeat Hammonton 33-7. In doing so, the Chargers claimed their first football sectional title in school history. Senior quarterback Calvin Lowe completed touchdown passes to Dajaun Drennon and Bryce Shade. Lowe also ran for one touchdown himself. Bryce Shade and Kevin Potter both ran for Timber Creek touchdowns. The Timber Creek defense forced five turnovers in this championship game. December 2, 2011 NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV Football Championship Pennsauken Indians 55 Millville Thunderbolts 34 Manny Cortez threw five touchdown passes and ran for three more touchdowns as Pennsauken defeated Millville 55-34 to win the South Jersey Group IV sectional title. Cortez completed four touchdown passes to Amar Williams and one to Justin Anderson-Cope. Cortez finished the season with 43 touchdown passes to break the South Jersey single season record and tie the New Jersey state record. November 24, 2011 West Jersey League Football Timber Creek Chargers 13 Triton Mustangs 3 After a scoreless first half, Dean Cowley gave Triton a 3-0 advantage with a 29-yard field goal with 7:17 remaining in the third quarter. However, Timber Creek answered back with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. First, Timber Creek quarterback Calvin Lowe took it in himself from one yard out with 7:54 remaining in the game. Moments later, Lowe completed a touchdown pass to teammate Isiah Austin. The 13-3 Timber Creek win gives the Chargers a 6-4 all-time advantage over Triton in this annual Thanksgiving rivalry. November 19, 2011 NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV Football Playoffs Pennsauken Indians 52 Triton Mustangs 23 After Triton grabbed an early 3-0 lead on its first possession, Pennsauken scored 27 unanswered points to take a 27-3 lead in the second quarter. The Indians eventually built a 52-16 lead and held on to win 52-23. Pennsauken quarterback Manny Cortez threw five touchdown passes and ran for two touchdowns himself. Cortez completed two touchdown passes apiece to Justin Anderson-Copes and Amar Williams. Anthony Sweet also had a touchdown reception for the Indians. November 18, 2011 NJSIAA South Jersey Group I Football Playoffs Glassboro Bulldogs 28 Haddon Heights Garnets 14 Trailing 14-13 at halftime, Corey Clement and the Glassboro offense turned it up a notch in the second half. Clement ran for two touchdowns in the second half, caught a two point conversion from Mike Gillespie, and kicked the PAT after Glassboro's final touchdown. Clement and teammate Quinn Haltiwanger both ran for touchdowns earlier in the first half. Haddon Heights scored on a touchdown run by Darrien Pierce and a touchdown pass from Nick Lundholm to Darrien Pierce. Corey Clement finished the night with well over 200 yards rushing. November 11, 2011 NJSIAA South Jersey Group II Football Playoffs Cinnaminson Pirates 14 Woodstown Wolverines 7 Dominic Elly's touchdown pass to Cole Pewor with 8:17 remaining in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference as Cinnaminson defeated Woodstown 14-7 in this quarterfinal matchup. Cinnaminson had taken a 7-0 lead just before halftime on a Tom Donnelly touchdown run. Woodstown evened the score early in the third quarter on a Ridge Reese touchdown run. October 21, 2011 West Jersey League Football Triton Mustangs 13 Bishop Eustace Crusaders 0 After three scoreless quarters, Triton broke this game open with two Josh Woods touchdowns in less than a two minute span early in the fourth quarter. Woods' first touchdown, a six yard run, was set up after Isiah Baylor recovered a mishandled Bishop Eustace punt return. Then, on the Crusaders' next possession, Chris Baylor recovered a fumble and Woods ran for a 32-yard touchdown on the next play.
